The Forsaken Manor

Starfield Mod

Designer

2D Level Layout

The idea was to set the scene that this house is creepy and your goal is to get out. Immediately after entering the large open space, you can see 2 locked doors and a suspicious large center painting. The goal was to keep the player exploring while pushing them to move forward with the scripted jumpscares.

Blockout

This was the 3D layout of the Forsaken Manor using Akila kit pieces, which aims to make it feel like an abandoned family home. The design is based on a young child's memory, so the aim is to make some areas not as dense with assets.

Scripting

The location has been set up with multiple custom-scripted unique Puzzles, different trigger box conditions, scripted jump scares, unique interactable items, and a quest. The puzzles shown below are #1 and #2.

Forsaken Manor Interior:
The Forsaken Manor is a multi-puzzle horror escape room that forces the player to think their way out of this Forsaken Manor. The player is not alone as throughout the level the player will experience jump scares complimentary of the small astronaut cat plush that is possessed. The idea is that this is a child's manifestation of their home right before it collapsed. I focused on making it feel inviting, yet its old and abandoned and you swear you heard the floor boards creek. The lighting is in specific locations to highlight jump scares, key puzzle objects or locations, and hints. The goal was to make the place feel dark to the point where sometimes you wanna use a flashlight just to make sure what you're looking at isn't going to move. However, you could play the full level without using one to stay immersed in the creepy vibes.
